My chocolate Labrador pup is biting hard. What can I do?
This isn't unusual and it's not a sign of your puppy being aggressive. In fact, it's quite natural and it's how your puppy plays (if you ever look at a litter of puppies you'll see them play-fighting quite happily). Just be careful with your fingers around him and offer him a chew toy to play with. In time he should grow out of this and stop biting you.

Where can I find a reputable and ethical Lab breeder?
It's a disappointing sign of the times that people need to ask this question, but dog breeding is big business and many breeders are in it purely for the money and have little or no care for the animals they sell. A good option is to go with a recommendation from a family member or friend, but this is not always possible. As a minimum your breeder should be able to provide you with papers on the puppies vaccination and micro-chip, and proof of the dog's pedigree. Also, prepare some questions in advance for the breeder, such as what happens to the dogs he doesn't sell, will he sell puppies younger than 8 weeks (he shouldn't) and try to get a feel for whether the breeder is the real deal.
What's best - a pen or a leash when my dog is at home?
Lab puppies are very active dogs so they need to have space they can run around in and play without getting into trouble. Creating a play area with wire meshing is a great way to do this, or else secure your back yard against any puppy-sized holes he can squeeze through. I've lost count of the number of stories I've heard of puppies going AWOL after squeezing through impossibly-small holes in fences!
How can I housetrain my puppy?
This does take some time to master, so be patient. To start with, keep a sharp eye out when your puppy is inside and at the first sign of him acting strangely (you'll soon spot this) take him outside. Stay outside with him for at least five minutes and then bring him back inside. You'll need to keep this up for a while but your puppy will begin to make the association between outside and needing the bathroom after a short time.
What food is best for a Chocolate Labrador Puppy?
Ideally you should keep the puppy on the same food he was eating when with the breeder, so make sure you ask the breeder before you bring him home. It is possible to change a puppy's food but this needs to be done gradually to try and avoid him getting a sore stomach or diarrhea.
